Don't give up just yet. Please do this:
1. Open oolite.app\Resources\Config\logcontrol.plist.
2. Find the line that reads $textureDebug = no;
3. Change the no; to yes;
4. Run oolite.exe while holding the Shift key down. This will start the game and also refresh its cache. You can release Shift as soon as you see the spinning Cobra.

Once done, please post again the contents of Latest.log.

Can you please provide the exact specs of the PC you are trying to run this on? Especially the exact graphics card type? My suspicion here is that the gfx driver may not be the right one for the card you have or a setting of the card is messing things up. Have you tried any other applications using OpenGL for 3D acceleration on that system and, if yes, have you noted any issues with them?

What color depth is your card set to display? You can find this information in the card's control panel. Normally this is set to 32-bit depth, but please check just in case.

Also, would it be possible to edit logcontrol.plist one more time and change the line that reads

to

display.initGL	= yes;
then post the resulting log here?

Edit: One more thing you can try to do in the meantime, is run the game with the -nosplash parameter. This uses a slightly different start-up code path and might help with this problem.

Have you tried the proposals in the posts above? Can you please post a log and some system specs?

Is the problem the same regardless of detail level in the game options?
