How cool would it be to own your own station? I don't know how hard it would be to oxp but I think it would be pretty awesome. Maybe just a small station like the Collector's or maybe a Rock Hermit?
Some ideas for what you could do with it:
Store ships there for future use
Gain revenue from sales (probably not much what with operational overhead)
Use it for slightly discounted repair on ships
Bragging rights :)

You don't know what class is.
- Fireworks to welcome you after a long trip
- Your own logo on the station
- docking priority
- A maid café instead of a dive
- An escort at witchpoint waiting for VIPs 24/7
- custom station interiors

Another thing that would be nice is to have Ship Configuration store all your stuff for free there.

I didn't think of that. It would be something of a blow to have all your ships mechanics stored there and the lose it all to a hoard of thargoids.

However, unintended consequences aside, could this be done somehow? I might give it a try myself but my programming skills are pretty limited.

Is that actually possible without an OXP? Or is there an OXP to produce that? That'd make for a pretty interesting mission storyline.

There is a native nova mission - and if you visit a system gone nova, you won't last long.
Last time I revisited my nova system, I lasted all of forty-two seconds. <chortles>
