cim wrote:A minor point: it's not strictly required, but it's better to change the download_url for every version of the OXZ file if you're using the automatic downloader: the reason is that if you don't, someone can download version 1.7 but Oolite (with an old index) thinks it's downloading 1.6, so the download will complete and then say "failed". You'd want to make sure you were always using the permanent URL for that file version as the download_url if possible.
If the version number is made part of the filename, the download URL will automatically be different every time.

I updated the sandbox wiki to allow .oxz file uploads and added this extension to mime type application/zip. I didn't touch the max upload size yet, so it is set to the default of 2MB.

For demonstration purposes I uploaded an Aegidian's Specials oxz file (just the renamed zip file, not following any format). On the OXP wiki page you can also see how to link to it, on the file's wiki page you can see how you can add new versions or delete a version (same as for images).

Note that the sandbox wiki is a snapshot from April 2012, upgraded to MediaWiki 1.19

@cim: let me know if this tests ok and what other changes you would need.

That looks like it'll work fine.

I like the "accessed x times" counter at bottom which reload-proof. Small problem when the proof get timeout (I do not know when) then my next visit to check the counter will increase it also. I can stay away and check say once in a month, but I think sooner or later somebody will ask for a solution to exclude checkings.

I will open my site to most anyone to host OXP's and OXZ's on. Private FTP sections. I think I can have up to 50 accounts, and I have unlimited bandwidth.

Since I'm not on the forums regularly due to work, just drop me an email or PM.

Are there any news about oxz hosting in wiki?

Thanks to Cheyd, the hosting of my planet textures is solved, I can recommend his excellent service. :)
But I would like to count the downloads of smaller files so I wait for the wiki.

There nothing that would block us from doing that, except I haven't enabled the upload on the real wiki yet--is there some sort of consensus that this is what oxz authors want?

OXZ uploads are enabled now. The size is still limited to 2MB but I need Dylan to change it and asked him to kindly do so.

Thank you, it is working! :)

The download link contain a random part (I got images/f/f3 now), which we must insert into the manifest.plist within the oxz so an instant update is needed after every upload. It is possible to modify the wiki code to save oxzs into a specific directory to avoid this? Not a problem if not, just an idea.
