Re: A bit of publicity

Excellent! Thanks for the translation; the article sounds a pretty reasonable presentation; good first line (always important!), and a nice introduction to some of the oxps.

Re: Ooliteers Planet - An Interactive Pinmap

The only things that live up trees round here are bloody grey squirrels! Noisy, antagonistic little bastards! I had a shouting match with one in the woods where I used to live - just because I nicked some of his hazel nuts!

I hope he wasn't one of your relatives?

Re: Ooliteers Planet - An Interactive Pinmap

Well, pinned myself into what seems to be a fairly lonely East Anglia!

...mind you, I see that Griff would be right at home over here... ...baaaaaaaahhhhhh...

.. he would just need the outsize welly boots...

Re: [POLL] Career Elite Ranking

Made it to Elite on the Spectrum a couple of times, then at least once in Frontier: Elite II.

I've never yet achieved Elite in Oolite, I have one commander well along the way at Deadly, but I keep getting sidetracked...!!

Re: New ships under development

... and I'd still like a P-51 Mustang! ..wouldn't we all? ...!! I remember when they were selling off old Mustang airframes for $149, moins the Packard Merlin, and a school-friend and I sat scratching our heads wondering how we could buy one, and how much it would cost us to ship it over to England...

Ah, yes, that sounds about right... the Intergalactic Murphy Corporation! SNAFU and FUBAR are at the core of the very fabric of their being!

Re: New Pilot in Town

Hi Pamir Bidou and welcome to the happy bunch of addicts spawned by this tribute to Elite! Well, fascinating - I have to say I'd never noticed that particular little gem! ...but I also have no idea why that should be, but I'm sure there'll be someone along soon who can explain what is happening. Hhh...

Re: Thank You

Welcome to a forum that has been graced by much friendly banter and very few flame wars; it is remarkably civilized and great fun. It's very encouraging to see the regular arrival of new blood to the game and the forum! The game's addictiveness is beyond question, you only have to look at the list o...

Re: Cobra Mk 2

Yes, indeed, Carroll Shelby took the original AC Ace and made it seriously quick! This car was often held responsible for giving the UK government the excuse they needed to impose a 70mph speed limit on the M1 - the only motorway at that time. It was alleged to have clocked at over 180mph...

Re: Elite Vs B5

Yep, if you ever read some of Braben's comments, then Asimov is one of the listed influences for Elite, along with Niven and Clarke. I've always wanted to see a Ringworld development attempted in Oolite, but I suspect many people's computer would come to a grinding halt!!

Re: Can I pester you by email?

There are some very, very strange people inhabiting these forums!! :o

Was this deliberate attempt to acquire a record or was it a really slow day???

...and it actually predates my membership of this forum...
