Re: Will Oolite survive with the release of Elite Dangerous?

I believe oolite will not only survive ED, but surpass it, for all the reasons stated above. Especially since oolite isn't online play: MMOs never fail to attract internet sociopaths, and ED already has a large infestation of griefers I hear. I'm one of those ppl that don't want to have to deal with...

Re: "The Adventures of Captain Morgan" Or "Damn That Mossfoo

Sure you can throw in skirmishes with pirates, but to be "ingame real", once you've put some iron on your ass and you've learned a keen aim with those mil lasers, shootouts with a pack of 4 to 5 space scum tends to last less than a minute.

Re: Impossible space engine, that apparently works

Electric thrusters are old hat; ion drives have been known for decades. NASA even launched a deep space probe with an ion engine on it. BUT, ion drives still need a fuel source for reaction mass. The aforementioned probe has a small tank of xenon gas onboard for fuel. The thrust of an ion engine is ...

Uh-oh. Out of the fat, into the fire...

Our hero could really use a nifty James Bond gadget right about now. Or failing that, an electronic thumb and a towel.

Space music: Internet Radio stations

Tuning into Blue Mars with VLC and letting the space grooves flow while cruising the lanes was a cool experience. Sadly, Blue Mars went off the air, but conjured a few other space tune stations with it's loss in witchspace. Some I know of... Deep Space Radio (recently off the air) Echos of Blue Mars...

Re: [RELEASE] Torus To Sun OXP v1.2

Upgrade your NumericHUD to v3.24 and you will see the correct speed. I tried it. I wasn't happy with the feature creep in this version, and went back to my mildly modded version of 3.22. I backported the TorusToSun speed reporting code though. I may backport the code for preloading favored MFDs as ...

Yes.

It works great for a few kills, then sticks in the locked-on mode till I dock. The stick happens randomly, but always immediately on getting a kill.
I tried at fixing it, to no avail.

Re: [RELEASE] Torus To Sun OXP v1.1

What if the speeds reached were based on distance relative to star/planet mass? Imagining concentric circles around each star or planet, for example. The bigger the mass the larger the rings, each ring out being the next possible level of multiplier. In cases where they overlap (moons and planets) ...

Re: What happened to GalCop?

To run with Clym brings to the table, at the end of the Saga Raxxla was blown up and the transchart wormhole network collapsed. But... Raxxla was a complex machine who's mysteries were barely understood. Who's to say if destroying it created an alternate reality where it wasn't destroyed? Or that it...

Re: [RELEASE] Torus To Sun OXP v1.1

Thing is, if you use the torus away from the planet, then turn back towards it, you'll have kicked in enough momentum to hit the planet FAST. I mean twice I did it and it reminded me of planet entry shown in the Elite:Dangerous trailer ;) I did a quick experiment. I flew away from the planet, watch...

Re: [RELEASE] Torus To Sun OXP v1.1

I hardly ever see it get past 2x on the beacon to planet run; I still wind up getting masslocked just like before installing it. So keep some spare fuel handy to feed the injector, you're not gonna outrun bandits with an updated torus.

Re: [RELEASE] Torus To Sun OXP v1.1

If all's well in your ooniverse, you've bought the equipment and all, then here's an example of what you should be seeing. http://s22.postimg.org/4e2w2iogx/oolite_002.png Ignore the speed dial in the HUD, it's showing what the speed would be with an unmodded torus running. Observe the combat mfd in ...

Hey Moss, did you try holding down shift when starting the game?

"Quite the interesting approach to defeating a renegade carrier, this is", the dragoness said, looking at the young spacer over her mug of coffee. "They are, as you hu-mans say, a white elephant. Large, and nearly impervious, to be avoided if at all possible. Yet... There is one weapon these beassts...
