Re: Fantastic Books Kickstarter

If you've ever had an urge to maul me for anything that I've said, I can console you by revealing that the latest update video was not a "one take" deal:

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Will be interesting to see if 4 cores are actually used. My G19 keyboard has a fancy LCD applet showing the load on each core and I've rarely seen all the cores actually at work (heavy duty) at the same time.

Re: Elite : Reclamation (Novel)

Would be great to have the hardback special editions as a mid-step towards the full audio experience, but let's see how this goes. :)

Re: Elite: Dangerous - Design Decision Forum

I very much agree (and said so in my message above) and want to add that having seen the Panther LX model heavy cargo clipper in the latest newsletter, I felt a sudden urge to pretend to be a Firefly-esque starship captain, leading a ragtag crew from adventure to adventure... Always before, I've tho...

Re: Elite: Dangerous - Design Decision Forum

Very basic. The question whether the crew should have moral standpoints is the most interesting. I think they should give Expeditions: Conquistador a good look and see what was done with "crew management" in that game. Basically, you had to choose a crew that fit your morals best as possible, or oth...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

I'll just have to say it again that that looks way too much like an atmospheric explosion. With all the clouds in the background, are you sure it isn't one? They did say we'd be able to visit the upper atmospheres of gas giants for fuel skimming. I'd be thrilled if it were, but given that Frontier ...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Already complained about that explosion on the Frontier forums, but I'll just have to say it again that that looks way too much like an atmospheric explosion. The explosions in Oolite are much more realistic.

Well, we saw a peek of the Cobra in the latest video - untextured and a very quick look, though. It looks pretty much like the original except for a slightly bulkier top-middle section.

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

It's a Sidewinder. There's really no mistaking the shape. If you are uncertain, you need to play 50 hours of Oolite to pay for your sins. If that doesn't help, then a further helping of 100 hours should do it.

Re: Elite : Reclamation (Novel)

As I have reasoned elsewhere, E:D is actually Frontier 3 (and maybe even then still a reboot; I'm not informed enough about both Frontier and E:D to judge this), and Oolite may well be the only Elite 2 that ever existed. Not really true either. The game is going to be a kind of a mix between...

Re: Elite: Dangerous - Design Decision Forum

Indeed, no need to worry about that. Seemed to be just a couple of people voicing their worries and Ashley's entrance nubbed the whole thing.
