Re: Planetary Landing: A Cautionary Tale...

I'd not call farting a guy thing, but a child thing. Never seen adults laugh at farting sounds...

Re: Fantastic Books Kickstarter

Fifth book just entered the Fantastic Books fold, meaning that the Kickstarter now offers access to 5 books instead of 4 on the same pledge levels as before.

The latest author is Kate Russell, who - I take it - has some following in the UK.

Re: Fantastic Books Kickstarter

45 Hours! That's how much time there is left for YOU to make a difference! The most exciting Kickstarter of all time - with crazy updates every day - is reaching its finale. The linked chart lets you see what different pledge levels get you (= a lot of stuff even for the minimum of £1 pledge!). Ther...

Oh, I had completely forgotten this one. I think I submitted myself a long time ago as well, but have no recollection of how I described myself... :?

Here's a link to my preview of the alpha: http://www.hookedgamers.com/pc/elite_dangerous/preview/article-1188.html And if you want to look at very many gameplay videos of Elite without any nagging voice telling you what you are seeing, there's a lot of them here: http://www.youtube.com/user/HGWolfwo...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Thats too simplistic. My card is well below that level, yet the alpha is fine on my machine. Yes I have to run in a low resolution, but the game is playable (I'm getting 20-30 FPS). Yup, I was merely referring to the requirements published by Frontier. Admittedly they said that they did not have an...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Here's a handy hierarchy chart for graphics cards: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html I have a Radeon 6300M. Any chance of E:D ever running whenever it's out? Your graphics card seems to be relatively low down on the list. The requirements indicate that you ...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Indeed, I was surprised to see the GTX470 run the game so easily on the (current) highest settings.

Another video from me. Joystick really makes the fights easier.

Re: Marcan Rayger Frontier/Elite fan-fics revisited

No PDF at the moment - do people still read PDFs, though? The Kindle applet and other similar applications are available to pretty much every platform. The problem with PDFs is that you would have to know the size of the reader's screen; whether to design the layout for a regular A4/Letter or someth...

A couple of gamevids from me as well. One with a gamepad and the other with a joystick.

Gameplay is... different from both Elite/Oolite and the Frontier games, but not too much so. I still feel like I'm returned to a familiar place.

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

The size of the window is only realistic if you consider that you want to give the pilot as unimpeded view as possible. And, yes, I always imagined it as a bridge where you actually had some room to move around in for two pilots (at least it was described that way in the Dark Wheel).
