Re: DST (BST)

Same with me, but I could live with DST in winter too. Not DST is the problem, the changing is the problem. It makes people sick, and it causes more accidents. The meridian thing is not so important, you just have to get used to it. Look at Spain and France for example - they should use GMT, like Po...

Re: Space-sim simulator

I didn't play with the simulator yet, but I think, in reality no stable ecosystem could exist with a big number of pirates compared to the number of innocent traders. I always felt that there are too many pirates and too few traders in Elite/Oolite, especially big traders carrying a significant amou...

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

Hm. I must admit that I've neglected Oolite a little bit in the past two months (because of real-life issues), but I really have to try it! I fear that there will be problems with "torus synchronization" in the "Escort Contracts" and "Synchronized Torus" OXPs, because torus speed and minimum and max...

Re: FlightGear: amazing open source flight simulator

It's the bug mentioned on the wiki page (written in italics): http://wiki.flightgear.org/Douglas_C-47_Skytrain. It is really annoying because I can use the keyboard for mixture and throttles, but I still have to look into this region to switch the fuel tanks. But perhaps the Wiki and/or my version o...

Re: FlightGear: amazing open source flight simulator

Sadly, the majority of the many plane projects seem abandoned too, at least the Wiki gives me that impression. My favourite plane, the DC-3/C-47 (shown in the first video at 3:11), has a bug that was noted years ago, but nothing has changed, even with the new version.

Re: oolite-saves folder

The save folder can be anywhere if you change it, and the game remembers the changed location.

Look in the file \oolite.app\GNUstep\Defaults\.GNUstepDefaults - there you can see which "save-directory" has been used.

Yes, but with Xenvgs it seems strange because they are really strong otherwise. And of course I never shoot at Genafcbegres!

Re: Favorite Combat Tactics

I've also noticed, that Adders almost always release a missile as their final death act. So now I tend to finish them off at a bit of a distance, so I have time to ECM the missile. Most ships do this (the Krait is a notable exception). Sometimes I try to provoke them to release their missiles early...

On Wikipedia, this would be a candidate for {{speedy}} or, in German, {{SLA}}, and it's half-life would be measured in minutes... :D

Re: Screenshots

It's caused by staying too long. I encountered traffic jams at Laxema: http://www.schlepptops.de/img/oolite-191_1000.png It was a coincidence that I encountered this during my first tests with Spicy Hermits, and I naturally blamed the OXP for this, but it is completely normal in this system. As I wr...

Re: Trunk nightly

Just to check: I do have many entries for wreckage with several scales under the OOMesh key (but not under the octrees key). Is that ok?

"wreck2.dat:0:0.000" seems strange though. And I wonder if something as small as "wreck2.dat:0:0.001" or "wreck2.dat:0:0.002" is worth having 38 faces.

Re: System Populator Memory

... though bear in mind that the act of launching from a station will auto-dock any ship currently in the docking queue... Is there a reason for this? If I want to dock, the ships waiting to launch are released first. So why shouldn't NPCs in the queue wait for the player launching? It would make t...
