Reapers in Mass Effect 1,2, and 3.
They lay dormant for ~50k years, and then come to harvest all "intelligent organic life" in the galaxy.
They actually have a sort of relay (Citadel) to wake them up.

Re: Build fails, nsprpub is missing

It's very likely you forgot to run "git submodule update --init" after your cloning command. The Oolite source is available from github. Use `git clone https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite` to retrieve. Then ` git submodule update --init ` to fetch the various submodules. You can quickly check th...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

I'll take a quick chance at this. I think there is a word that always sets the robots (and AIs in SF, to a wider scale) to always promptly answer "I was not programmed to do this". The word in this case would be "guess". Whenever they are pressured to overcome this part of their "programming", they ...

Hah, old dinosaurs up, and alive! Drew, DaddyHoggy, and they also mentioned Selezen, but didn't see his name in the chat. I guess we can now be sure, if there ever was any doubt, that Drew betrayed Oolite for E:D  Quite candid to see him not recalling most "elementary" keys, and the fact th...

Re: Help Install on MX Linux, please

Yup, 1.9.14 is the version I have installed here. I cannot say I know too much of the inner works of the software, but it seems it has somehow been revamped from what they call "JACK1 design" (see their README.rst ). Although I didn't compile it myself, the way Slackware (my Linux distribution) prov...

Just want to be sure that I know what you're saying. ('jack2' is apparently not available anywhere in the MX Linux repositories.) When I didn...
