Re: Diplomacy OXP

This looks interesting and it has given me an idea that helped lay out a storyline for an oxp I have been working on.

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

OK I have tested the easy start and I think its a great addition.to the game. I thought I'd comment on it here. Before I go on I'd like to mention that I never played Elite or any of its derivatives except Oolite which I started playing around V 1,76. I installed it because it was advertised as a hi...

Re: Do NPCs use primable equipment?

I thought that best would be if all ships save their (official) cargo list upon leaving an official station into an official database, and usually you don't have access to this database The manifest scanner hacks your ship's computer, which updates itself as soon as you scoop a pod, check your f5f5...

Re: reload OXPs during development

I like to use cim's build scripts, they require a little set up but once they are they will repackage an oxp as an oxz and replace the old oxz in your AddOns folder with the new one. They work out of the box on linux but require some modification to work on Windows or Mac. https://github.com/cim--/o...

Humbly thanks Oolite for teaching me how to create my own vision of what a game might be.

Re: Model converter utilities

May i ask if there are any py scripts that work in the current version of Blender? or how exactly you can use these conversion scripts? What directory structure is recommended? should they be installed in the Python folder? or should they be installed in the same directory as say an existing Oolite...

Re: Directory structure for Addons in Ubuntu/Debian

and yes the oxz do work in either directory, but if you already had an install of Oolite on another distro of linux, then you have to migrate everything somewhere if you want the same setup (basically). and this can also save time when you already have the add on instead of downloading a new copy (...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

It's not a way to force things on people It can be though, depending on how its implemented. I would be stuck with those new ship textures without the great contrubutions of other oxp authors, now Griff/CaptSolo's textures are awesome and I am happy about their inclusion in the game but I think the...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

I say those OXPs should be part of the official distribution. They are. You must enable them with the expansion manager. 'Right' being, again, about satisfying as many people as possible. Moving in the right direction is necessary in order to attract more players. More players are necessary ...

Re: Directory structure for Addons in Ubuntu/Debian

Once i moved the oxz files to the ManagedAddOns directory they showed up correctly in the in game manager and can be managed from there after that. How are you downloading? If you download an OXZ through the in-game manager it should automatically be placed in the /home/username/GNUstep/Library/App...

Yikes, I won't be creating anything for that game. I think authors should have the freedom to release their creations under any license they choose.

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

I've set up something very experimental based on the earlier description of the "massLockable" property and it seems to work, although of course more testing is needed. I understand that this is where the scalpel goes deep (a bit too deep maybe). I can make it so that mass lock is forced when in re...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

Welcome Dave, I do like ideas 1 and 2 but I don't know about 3. I understand your point but I like being able to create ships without being restricted to a specific set of parameters. Now if you don't like the stats I've assigned to a certain ship you don't have to install it, although if you really...
