Re: Python model converters

Thanks Commander_X, that's really helpful. I often struggle to get wings to properly apply UV layouts that the python converters will use so I am trying to learn to use blender in hopes that I can get better UV maps.

Hydro-skimming firefighters

Wildland fires can be devastating and the small town I live near is no stranger to them. Once again the community is threatened and as ground crews work to create defensive lines they are being supported by some amazing pilots. They literally scoop water from the lake and dump it on the fire. Near t...

Re: Python model converters

I am trying to increase the poly count of the asteroid part of the new Imperial Astrofactory. I think it should be possible to do this you are just subdividing the existing faces not really adding new ones although blender is probably capable of adding new faces to an existing texture and reusing i...

Re: Python model converters

Yes, that is exactly my problem: unfortunately my case is complicated because I am adding new faces to the model, I think you will have to create a new UV map then. I am not sure if there is a way to add new faces to an existing UV layout in wings without creating a new UV map. If the new faces are...

Re: Python model converters

The UV layout is preserved so you should be able to apply the same textures once you convert the model back to a .dat, but any modified faces of the model that don't match up with the original UV layout may not be textured properly. I converted a model, loaded it into wings, made a modification, the...

Re: Introduce Yourself.

It's the latest one that the Mint 18.1 apt repositories provide Hi CmdrGumbo, welcome, I know mint users are encouraged to stick to repository versions, but I have been running the current version of oolite on mint 17.3 with no problems. Installation is pretty straightforward and oolite comes compi...

Re: Maps

When I was a kid we would go for drives in the mountains then when we got home in the evening my dad would get out the local USGS forest service map and have me point out where we had been. He also taught me how to read the information on bearing trees and how they correlated to BLM topographical se...

Re: Progress

Would you consider the generation delay game breaking? My desktop is definitely a little slower at rendering than my laptop even though it has a pretty good GPU, still not much more than a second, and it seems to vary. Fps is all over the place with that thing, it will be 35-50 when I start out, ju...

Re: Fuel Scooping

Selling fuel sounds great to me -- speaking as a miner, I sure wouldn't mind another way of making small bits of money incredibly slowly... Well there is an alpha OXP that allows for this, link on this page. http://aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18106&p=248709#p248637 I haven't really tested i...

Re: Fuel Scooping

I've been playing with "sun_distance_modifier" = "65.0"; so its a good 10 minute journey to the sun, if not more. The systems look great this way, but once, when I took a contract to move some contraband as a new Jameson (New Cargos), I ended up changing my modifier back to the default. I like the i...

Re: Progress

Yes, only a slight delay (under 1 second) for me as well. Fps drop to 130 on F7, run steady at 199 on F3, but if I've got a course plotted on F6 fps is around 100, 160 on F6 if no course plotted. In hyperspace I didn't notice much of a delay but with the planet in view fps is around 100 as soon as t...

Re: Docking clear + sundry

Unfortunately the Galactic Navy can't be updated. You can fix it yourself, but getting the same market definitions will require information from the original commodities.plist combined with a CommodityDefinition script, check out this write up by spara: http://aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=176...

Re: Unable to run Oolite following distro updates

Hello Damocles, Welcome. Am I correct in thinking that the tgz file contains an installer which will walk me through the install process or is it just a case of extracting that 1 file to a place of my choice? Extract the file in your home folder, it should extract a bash/shell file ending with .run ...

Re: A few questions about OXPs and modding

i didn't mean any harm by worrying about the tar.gz release, it was just my experience very recently and in the past that they are usually not as well thought out or packaged as the OOlite ones are. No worries, I know what you mean. Some stuff works really well like Oolite, but I've struggled with ...

Re: A few questions about OXPs and modding

Say for instance i wanted to replace all models in an older OXP with ships from the default OOlite (like griffs models) or add a few from a comparable shipset to fill out the rest with the only difference being textures would be new to emulate the color scheme of the older models. Unless the textur...
