Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Me again? Oh dear... OK, we've had food and we've had drinks. Let's do some alien drugs! I'm looking for five instances of drugs made by aliens, or based on alien plants / animals / whatever. Usual five things rules apply - no two from the same source, where source can be as narrow as a single novel...

PsiCorps, part of EarthGov, in the Babylon Five universe.

The Zhodani empire (or whatever they called it, can't remember) in the Traveller RPG, which is a benevolent dictatorship based on a mind-reading state - pretty much anyone in any responsible government job is psychic.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

And that's #5 - Charlie nicked it from The Meaning of Life, of course, as did I in the role playing adventure The Crimson Claw Assurance Society, a light-hearted adventure for a small team of dragons, a few years earlier.

ExoGeni , one of the corporations mentioned in the first Mass Effect game (it appears as a main side story in the Feros mission). It was a corporation giving assistance with the human colonization (among other activities). Don't know this one - but it looks like they're not in any of the businesses...

Megadodo Publications publishers galaxy wide of the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. I presume other publications as well.. The guide is published by "Megadodo Publications", a publishing company on Ursa Minor Beta. Good one - and means I don't have to get terribly depressed about Sirius Cybernetics...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

CHOAM (Combine Honnete Ober Advancer Mercantiles), from Dune : because it has its fingers in so many pies, it's difficult to say exactly what it does, but since the bulk of its profits depend on melange, I'd classify it as a spice merchant. General Products, from Larry Niven's Known Space stories. ...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

OK, let's have another five things - five megacorporations spanning multiple worlds / planets / etc. No two from the same universe / creator, and no two in the same business. Our example is from the Ooliteverse, Yelloo Cabs. Since I've used that you can't have anything else from the Ooliteverse, or ...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Love the illo! I think I'm going to give this one to spud42 since B5 plus Centauri is most of the answer. The word you're missing is the name of the food (and I suspect that some here will be kicking themselves) SPOO! https://babylon5.fandom.com/wiki/Spoo "Would you like some spoo? It's fresh." "Fah...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

from your " unexpected tentacle placment" hint i think you are referencing the Centauri from Babylon 5 ? but i cant remember any particular food.... Exactly right - remember the clue about the Ooliteverse, it really is relevant, especially two letters (another hint). The Narn also like it, but prep...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Another clue - food that's very popular on another space station, especially liked by aliens with tentacles in unexpected places. VERY surprised it isn't sold in the Ooliteverse.

too easy that but does it actually qualify?

Well, that sure as hell isn't any earth-type animal, it has surface similarities but I'm pretty sure it's not a vertebrate as we know it, it looks segmented. I think it qualifies.

Two to go!

Gagh, Klingon Blood worms. a fine delicacy best eaten while the worms are fresh and moving vigorusly . nothing worse then lethargic worms. That's one - in fact it was the first one I thought of when I wrote the question - and I like the description. Rules out Plomik Soup, which was the other one I ...
