Re: Where can I find my ship in the relevant shipdata.plist

How do I install v1.80 properly - it's my discomfort with installing it in Linux Mint that led to this mess in the first place It shouldn't be necessary to reinstall things. Though I've only ever done the Home install, so I've no clue if that changes anything important. For future reference, the si...

Re: Where can I find my ship in the relevant shipdata.plist

Staer9ShipsetShadedv1.2.oxp That one has the ET as well. Most likely the one you're looking for. ETA: I think I've spotted the problem. Line 2420 defines view_position_aft, but I cannot see any forward, port or starboard anywhere. Most likely some default values are used, which don't work well with...

Re: Where can I find my ship in the relevant shipdata.plist

As far as I know – and the Wiki seems to agree – the Python ET comes from Aegidian's X-Ships. I've been away for a while though, so there may be a Griff version by now.

ETA:
If it's the X-ships you're after: Lines 448 through 455 in shipdata.plist

Re: More Adder cargospace?

I am using Notepad++. I copied and pasted the code into ship-data overides.plist and moved it to Addons/Config. No change, i am afraid. Just to make sure: The correct file name is "shipdata-overrides.plist". If it doesn't work in AddOns/Config, try dropping it straight in AddOns. That's where I put...

Re: More Adder cargospace?

Cheers, Dizzy, that saved me a bit of typing… Simple, no-frills method: { "adder-player" = { max_cargo = 5; }; } Copy and paste the above into a text file named "shipdata-overrides.plist". Place file in AddOns folder. Your Adder now has enough cargo space for a Passenger Cabin, and it will work on y...

Forward view while my ship was a helpless victim of the MF-effect. It finally came to rest 398OU from the buoy.
I probably should have returned to check if the Constore was still there…

Re: Fugitive player support in Oolite

So, this is already in 1.80, sort of: Splendiferous! Still, I cannot help but think that a way to explicitly signal what the AI now can only implicitly interpret would aid the AI in making a more accurate reading of the situation. It's also an immersion thing: You would expect anyone except for psy...

Re: Fugitive player support in Oolite

I've not tried going Offernder/Fugivte under 1.80 yet, so I don't know if there has been any changes. I have noticed Police vessels instructing Offender NPCs to dock and pay their fines (or words to that effect); a similar thing could be available to the player, and the safing of weapong being a con...

Cleaning up the save file

My main commander is now five years old, and while I've been on several hiatuses (hiati?) during that time, it does mean that several OXPs have come and gone or been substantially altered. My save file is currently almost 3000 lines, twice as much as another commander with just a few jumps done. I'v...

Re: Fugitive player support in Oolite

[…] All good points. This was something that just occurred to me, so I'm obviously still in the brainstorming phase. It would need a lot of discussion by more knowledgeable heads if it were to be made into something workable. The great advantage of "weapons offline = surrender" is that it's very ea...

Re: Fugitive player support in Oolite

Yep, as mentioned, there would have to be some sort of Fool Me Once mechanism involved. I think a 20-30s power-up is far too long – you (or a NPC) could be dead long before you were ready to fire. If there's a Ship Powering Up message accompanied with a flashing lollipop or something, there should b...

Re: Fugitive player support in Oolite

On a slight tangent: Could the Weapons Off toggle be used as a means to surrender? As it is, it isn't really possible to tell anyone – be they police, pirates or whatnot – that you are non-hostile. In trouble with the law? Weapons Off (and perhaps speed below a certain threshold) will allow you to d...

Re: RepairBots OXP

But why are you repeatedly launching and docking? Apart from experiments or other special circumstances, I launch for one of two reasons: To go to a different system, or a different station in-system. Both of these usually mean plenty of time for the 'bots to do their thing. On the occasions they ar...

Same.
Led me to remove the cats from my game. I'm not wasting time and 'bots on a non-essential item, and to me not worth the hassle to fix locally.

And double confirmed. Also, apart from the manifest, identical to the one in Cache. A useful snippet of knowledge that.
