Re: Extra Planet/Moon textures - now Additional Planets.oxp

On the topic of textures/extra planets/extra moons, I made a table for myself in order to sort things out. | OXP | extra planets | gas giants? | extra moons | planet textures | moon textures | mapping/resolution | Notes | | system Redux (SR) | up to 4 | ? | up to 4 | 24 | yes | ? | FP & OXPConfig co...

Real planets are actually not spherical but slightly ellipsoidal. Maybe mapping the textures on an ellipsoid could yield better results?

Re: [UPDATED RELEASE]-Police IFF Scanner 1.3.1 (18/12/11)

I'd like to hack this OXP so that only the ships that are in the multi target system memory are colored on the scanner. I see where to insert the extra filtering (psu_updatescanner), but I don't know how to access the multitarget memory.

Re: Witchdrive Injector Regulators

I second too pagroove's suggestion, in the perspective of a Torusless play. Perhaps simplify it even more by controlling the mix with the throttle.

Perhaps a fixed fuel cost should be applied on activation in exchange for a better general performance compared to "unregulated" injectors?

Re: Extra Planet/Moon textures - now Additional Planets.oxp

Another possible way to comment-out portions of code is to enclose them in an if(false) { } statement. Faster to do, and easier to revert. In this particular case, the code is itself an "if" block, so we could have just inserted an if(false) in front of it or altered the conditional expression like:...

Hmm.. I see the DFT doesn't have an entry in the WIP section of the OXP list yet.. <adds to my to-do list>
Thanks. I think I can resell my Torus drive now.

Re: Split: Difficulty for new players

I remember when I started to play. I did get the memo about going off-lane and I think it was a good piece of advice. The problem when you are beginner is that all you have is a pulse laser and a couple of missiles. Your laser overheats quickly and do low damage, and your missiles are likely to be E...

Re: Progress

Yes, it'll let you download ones with dependency conflicts I think that kind of issue must be addressed elsewhere anyway. There is a large number of OXPs. Some are dependant of others, some do similar things, some are incompatible with each others. Putting together consistent OXP lists (and also ma...

Re: Source Code and Ideas question

I don't know anything about Objective-C, but it seems that you need to pass a custom selector in order to get the sort order you want. The one you use compares according to lexical order. I think you have to define a function or method that converts arguments into integers and return the comparison ...

Internal key assignment tool

I've seen that in 1.79 will have a new screen for OXP management. Maybe while in the screens, could you implement a key assignment tool? I know there is a browser-based tool, but it does not cut it for me. The basic problem is that the game apparently uses key scancodes instead of ASCII values. As a...

Re: Help us make Oolite more immersive!

Clearly no FTL comms in the game. Or else, why can't I look at the market of any system from any system? As I recall the generally accepted canon, that's more to do with trading regulations than comms limitations.. it's against GalCop law to transmit market prices outside a system. Trading slaves, ...

Re: Help us make Oolite more immersive!

Clearly no FTL comms in the game. Or else, why can't I look at the market of any system from any system? I'm not very knowledgeable about Elite lore, but I think it's a core property: ships may move faster than light by going through wormholes, but information can't. A simple way to go around this c...

Re: Licensing with Dead Man clause

Out of curiosity, do you know what is the "legal" status of patches? What about publishing files that modify an OXP? Also, could it be possible that, because OXPs are modifications of Oolite (or for you with Oolite only), Oolite authors could "enforce" a licensing policy? For instance could they inc...
