Re: WIP: witchdrive/Torus gameplay "fix"

Thanks for the pointers, Norby and Thargoid. Meanwhile I tried the alternative I talked about. The modification this time could be posted in the OXP tweaking thread: download and install the bullet drive OXP Then in Config, scripts.js: At lines 19 and 29, replace 7 by 30 After line 37 (between "else...

Re: WIP: witchdrive/Torus gameplay "fix"

How about a simple mechanics change: using torus slowly eats your energy? Would only affect the player and would be quite easy to script. Injectors already eat fuel, so there is a price for using them. The visual result looks is a bit weird: the Energy bar is "pulsing" because it regenerates while ...

Re: Extra Planet/Moon textures - now Additional Planets.oxp

Those new textures look really nice. I wish there was full-featured lanes for each extra planets so I could go to the planet that looks better :D . I started out with a couple of packs installed only and I noticed that the game defaulted often to the standard textures. Could it be possible to defaul...

Re: WIP: witchdrive/Torus gameplay "fix"

How about a simple, easy to use OXP that I can insert in the AddOns folder ... The reason I didn't do this is that it's quite experimental, and I don't have yet a box account. At the moment I'm more interested in feedback on the general idea and on the code. Would you be able to make this applicabl...

Re: communicating with other ships

Text chat would be less usable. Multiplayer games move more and more to menu-driven communications: * League of legends started out with two kinds of "pings" (visual and audible signals for all allies), then implemented some more for the most common communication needs. * Smite has a menu-driven qui...

WIP: witchdrive/Torus gameplay "fix"

We have bad news. In the last decades, combats and mining have been increasing steadily and have been the source of a growing number of debris floating in and outside the lanes. Up to recently, those debris simply disintegrated on the shields of passing ships. But the newer alloys used in the constr...

Re: Galaxy Populator

On half a million potential ships in a given galaxy, very few will actually cross the path of the player. And most of them won't even be seen or noticed by him, and the remaining part will more or less be quickly forgotten. I think that rather than implementing a feature in order to achieve some eff...

Re: Progress

Also, I don't see the sun glare effect (oolite-trunk-1.79.0.cdb9004-dev.x64). Please try without any OXPs and, if it still doesn't work, post a topic in Testing and Bug Reports with the following information: - Latest.log from start till the point of listing OpenGL supported extensions. - Location ...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy

Sounds sensible! Also opens up the possibility for e.g. tensions/conflicts between elements of the Navy, and/or the domestic GalCop Police. Who polices the police? The Omega. Who polices the Omega? Ah, well, now ... I think we should keep GalCop and the HIMSN seperate...but there's no rea...

Re: Progress

Regarding enabling the non-linear scanner: We now have two new Javascript player ship properties, which are boolean and read/write: player.ship.scannerNonLinear and player.ship.scannerUltraZoom . The first sets or unsets the linearity of the scanner, while the other chooses between standard 1:1, 2:...

Re: Extra Planet/Moon textures - now Additional Planets.oxp

In order to make installation easier, you could provide the packs in an archive with full tree of folders, so that the texture folder lands in the right place. Your latest pack could be archived as: AP_Demux_alien.zip | Additional_Planets_0.5.6.oxp | | textures (floder) | | | ... lotsa textures.png ...

Re: Thargoids are a bit stupid

I really should pay more attention ... Is there any mileage (if you'll pardon the pun) in increasing the difference, so that a big-planet system is immediately and obviously different from a small-planet one, even to the congenitally inattentive? If your thing is to not use the Torus drive, ...

Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read

Yet you considered in another thread (Galaxy populator) a client-server model . The attack you refer to is very specific because it breaks anonymity, the main feature of the Tor network. I'd like to point out that there is very little value in trying to hack Oolite which has a moderate-sized c...
