Re: Hubble's view of 'Hanny’s Voorwerp'

May anyone tell me why the name has not been made up in a Douglas Adams theme? Someone named Arkel finds a giant green snooze in outer space - how could they not name it appropriately?

Re: Oolite (or rather some OXPs) consumes too much memory...

I have 2 GB RAM and Radeon X1550 Maybe I should have been back earlier. However, if this problem is still present or other people have the same problem, here's the "why" this is a problem: I've got a X1550 myself and it's sorted out, only in use as backup card when one of my good ones break. The ca...

Re: Vacancy: Oolite Windows 64-bit maintainer for the dev te

I may have found a workaround for this problem: Some months ago I've downloaded Large Address Aware, a small utility that can set flags for !64 bit apps to allow them using larger addresses. When I saw this thread, I thought I should give Oolite a try. I'm using a slightly modded trunk build, compil...

I often have the little problem that a navy ship rams the buoy and then it's gone for the moment.

Just to make things clear: Are you running oolite in window or full screen mode?

Removal of all OXP's didn't seem to change anything. I should note-- the hiccups are worse in certain systems. Isinor (G1) is the one which gives me the most trouble. But again, changing the graphics settings doesn't seem to affect anything either. That's weird. If it weren't system dependent, I wo...

After ATI driver troubles now there's NVidia killerdriver...

Hi, since I'd guess that pretty many people here are running oolite on nvidia cards due to previous ATI driver troubles with OpenGL, I do wonder how it's here with the effects of NVidia finally failing with their drivers. "196.75 Alert! We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues...

In general, the main cause of occasional short freezes is loading of ship models and textures. It should happen less now than in 1.65 - assuming the same OXPs are installed, and especially on multi-core systems – but it certainly hasn’t been eliminated. Hmm...really, I haven't had that problem duri...

Re: Update to version 1.4

I could prevent players from being able to take part in challenges based upon their ship, though it depends what other information is available to the script - so far I've only been able to get hold of energy and speed. In the case of the Caduceus, the figures for these look fairly moderate but rea...

Re: Update to version 1.4

Hi all. Here's a further update to The Feudal States. I've modified the challenger odds calculations to make them more suitable for a wider range of players. Uhhh, yes. At first, they gave me more then 4:1 which was a great income at 100K Cr even while losing my cascade missiles and such. However, ...

Another thought; it would be really useful for testing models/textures/lighting/bumpmaps in game too!
Ooohh...and a freely scriptable outside camera could provide great cinematic sequences for oxpers :D

What I would like to know is are the 9.6/9.7 versions of Catalyst Control Centre mentioned in this thread still the latest versions that appear to work as problem free as possible with Oolite? For my X800XTPE those two bugs never were fixed. I'm happy that I was able to return the 4870x2 in exchang...

Re: Mouse-controllable external camera?

I know this would mean effectively stopping control of the ship (and made compatible across keyboard, mouse, joystick), but then perhaps it could be a selectable option. It doesn't have to prevent control of the ship: If you have more than one input device, one could be used for controlling the shi...

A laser cooler is one of those things that will not happen - buy a rear firing Mil laser and shoot as you run away - lasers have different temp scales so as the rear heats up the forward will cool. An addition for people who haven't tried it: Side lasers do require a little bit more training, but t...

Re: Morrigan and aquatics guardian defence system

Only problem is every time I'm attacked and the guardians launch I'm destroyed by them as they collide straight into me. I assume its something to do with the missile launch position (as one isn't define for the Morrigan) - but changing this doesn't seem to fix the problem. I had the same problem w...
