...I do find the Fer-de-Lance too weak for what it is: one of the main pirate ships... Same here. IIRC in the original game the Fer-de-Lance was the preferred vehicle for bounty hunters: sleek, fast as as Cobra III, and hard with it. Always a pain to encounter if one's legal status was, ahem, less ...

This one was a real brainy ad, but mind the references on medical terms (also German cuisine) lest Big A call you a porn spammer... What can I say? They offered me a sponsorship deal. Clinical trials show that Dr. Schmigmund's Mental Fixative is as effective as Repressitol, at half the price and wi...

Re: Save file whilst docked at something other than a statio

This has probably been asked before. Would it be a good idea to be able to save a game whilst docked at a rock hermit, pi-42 station, etc... Is this available in newer versions of the game? I have 1.65. I think there are technical reasons why this can't be done. There's no way for the program to st...

Hi Viper. The front-and-back military laser is, as you say, a pleasing combination. I believe the flying-away-and-firing-backwards technique is known technically as "Monty-Pythoning" (from Monty Python and The Holy Grail, "Run away! Run away!"). :)

Hi, Commander, welcome to the boards! It's a pretty friendly place. Just a few house rules: no space-boots on the rug, don't disturb the Grey-Haired Commander when he's napping, and if you're going to inhale any benzene steam, try to do it near a ventilator. Oh, and a word to the wise: don't buy any...

Thanks, Doc! :D I'm happy to keep cranking out ads, and trusting to your editorial control to use or decline them as you see fit... I'm discovering all sorts of widgets on Photoshop: all I've ever really used it for before was to resize images for websites. Cluttering up the spacelanes with blandish...

Signs of the End Times

10 October 2006, Hampden Park: Scotland 1, France 0 12 September 2007, Parc des Princes: France 0, Scotland 1... Squadrons of winged tartan pigs in little ginger wigs have been seen flying over Glasgow, before closing time... Check the Book of Revelations, I'm sure it must be in there somewh...

Powder, Shirley?
Possibly... although I suspect a modern barrister like LittleBear will have an electronic wig. An iWig, if you will.

:D Thank you all! But I think I've got a way to go before I can equal The Texeonis Blender Massacre, or "Impress Space Commander", or Booger King, or Starbugs, or "Trumble Inside", or... ...I quite like the Halo Kitty... Halo Kitty! Why didn't I think of that? I was just pleased to find a picture of...

I've a feeling that on one version of Elite (perhaps the ZX Spectrum) you did get the cloak for killing the Constrictor, but as CM says in Oolite the Cloak is given for a different mission. No, on the Spectrum you got the Cloaking Device for killing the Invisible Asp, who, I think, attacked along w...

Might be a silly question, but do you have enough Credits? According to the Wiki, Fuel Injectors cost 600Cr and are available from Tech Level 10 and up.

It might also have something to do with the type of ship you're in -- maybe it's not capable of fitting Injectors?
