Brilliant BEST SHIP EVAH!

Can you script infinite missiles which launch automatically at anything within range?

Re: A new kind of laser

Cost changes nothing. Money is easily available in vast amounts to all but the newest commanders. A military laser is 6000. It is hard to imagine a meaningful ingame explanation for an omni-laser costing say 10 times this, and 60k is peanuts really. Are you sure about that? Yes, I am sure. It is ea...

Re: OOLITE MULTIPLAAAYEEEER (or the closest thing to it)

It is a link, well not a link exactly, a reference to some other game embedded in what looks to me like a dig at oolite developers and nay-sayers who dont want or dont want to commit to MMOOlite. To be blunt, if you post something that looks like "I found cooling boosters", "multi player" or similar...

Re: For post MNSR - scrollable short range chart.

I'd say convenience - in all good software there is more than one way to perform a given task (and in some really crappy software too...). That is a matter of opinion, Id say all good software has one, simple, easy to understand way of performing a given task, and does not have unnecessary duplicat...

Re: DRM and the BBC

I woudl be accepting of a change in the structure of license fees, where they are used as a "review" of what people like - people can pay their license fee money to certain "products" made by the BBC. For example I could pay 20% to BBC News, 30% to production of drama and 50% to documentaries. It w...

Re: DRM and the BBC

I'm liking the idea of youtube tv though. It would blow the whole god damn thing out of the water. I dont expect you will have long to wait. The BBC model is probably not sustainable and sooner or later will be killed in its current form by streaming video. At this point I guess we will move to a s...

Re: How to thwart galactic hyperspace jump?

A misjump moves the player midway between the origination and target system. There is no meaningful equivalent for a galjump. And in the base game there would be no way to escape since the galdrive is a single use, there would be noway to escape. Perhaps galactic misjumps could be implemented, but t...

Re: Oolite scales (no, honest, read it!)

Nice effort, but it doesnt really address the size of planets, inter-system distances, or relative sizes of ships and stations etc.

I think its a beast best left undisturbed.

Re: Oolite Saga on Amazon?

No. My books are *not* for sale and I object strongly to the claim that they are. OK I have checked cafepress and of course you are right, they are not currently, but I paid for hard copies of (the first 2?) them, so they were for sale at some point. My mistake in assuming they still were. I seem t...

Re: Oolite Saga on Amazon?

To be fair, CommonSenseOTB did have a strong objection, and I don't think that should be discarded out of hand, he has a point and deserves to be listened to. Quite agree. Though hopefully I've made it clear that there would be no 'selling' in this case, no money involved and thus, hopefully, no su...

Re: A new kind of laser

All it does is make any decision about which laser to buy redundant -- the best is the have it all ways laser At, let's say, 30K credits? And if besides having atrocious switch times, it being also prone to damage-blocked into the current mode, with a stiff repair bill? Sure, you might delay gettin...

Re: What OS do you run Oolite on? [POLL]

Describing IRIX as Linux because both are unix is of course an odd viewpoint, but understandable for someone who doesnt have an IT background. Especially when Mac is also given as an option, as OSX and IRIX are much more "both unix" than Linux. And I would think the real question of value is which d...

Re: Oolite Saga on Amazon?

Firstly, I dont have a problem with you selling the books. In fact I dont have a problem with people selling copies of oolite either, as long as they respect the license. Free as in speech not as in beer and all that. If we dont want people making money from oolite, then we should change the license...
