Re: New Player, need a few questions answered please!

I would like to give a personal opinion about ships. I really think its a good idea to play in the cobra for a long time. Some of the missions (no spoilers intended) are a real adventure in a cobra, and might be a let down if you go cruising in with some kind of Star Destroyer with 150 turrets and a...

Re: New Player, need a few questions answered please!

Firstly, I'm thinking of getting a bigger ship for carrying more cargo. Can all ships carry all the extra equipment? If so, what ship seems the best for its price in terms of cargo hold? If this is not the most important thing then what is? No, not all ships can carry everything, but in my experien...

Re: Energy bomb, yes they really did it [Solved]

The arguments are not about realism, they are about game design. And the feeling in the dev team is that player only weapons are not god design. Can anyone explain why this is still an argument, I would have thought having a simple configuration option would make everyone happy, and since that exist...

Its a chance for middle class westerners to slap each other on the back and tell each other they are being green. Makes me sick.

Re: Crew discussion 2012

I can see a place for a (oh dear) Frontier like crew requirement, with large ships needing more staff. I could also see the possibility of flying with a reduced crew (each missing crewman leaves one turret unmanned perhaps) but many of these ideas seem to me to be taking the game too far in a direct...

Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read

That's not all you said CDR James... you quoted me and then said completely and totally wrong... however I suspect that you've not read previous posts concerning the idea to introduce an element of multiplayer to Oolite. For your convenience I suggested that there could be navigations, tactical and...

Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read

Good luck. Sounds like a fun project. But I dont see why you think building a multi player game not using the oolite code will somehow prove my assertion wrong. All I have said is that building multi player on oolite is too much work, and it would be much better to start from scratch. You seem to ag...

Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read

Thanks SandJ for your observations on my thoughts. What I'm really trying to say is that a multiplayer 'element' could likely be introduced without ripping the backside out of the existing code. Completely and totally wrong. Oolite cannot be any more multiplayer than it is now without a huge amount...

Re: How does a missile work?

That is how language develops after all... I think it is rather the difference between normal everyday use of language and domain specific or "technical terms" people use. To most people, a missile is a missile, and a hitile is a ban pun. It is rather like Organic food, to me as a chemist, almost e...

Re: Observation on equipment energy requirements

If you want to compare numbers play EVE :p

Really its pretty clear that military lasers are by far the best, with the highest rate of fire, and range. There isn't much to compare.

Re: Partial Witch Space Jumps Using Spare Drive

I would see that as a bug. To me the 7LY limit is an interesting quirk of the game that makes things like trade routes viable... work arounds for longer jumps, and indeed extra fuel pods and similar things that may allow longer jumps in my mind detract from this. YMMV since I am a luddite.

Re: Laser overheating, yawn ;)

Of course changing the value from 0.85 to 0.9 makes all lasers, especially ones that heat up quick (i.e. military) 5% better. This could be significant for some things where the amount of killing a ship takes has been carefully worked out to require all four lasers to be maxed out. It may also inter...

Re: (NEW RELEASE) SniperLockv1.oxp

Meh, its no sillier than a lot of the things that have been added. In principle its just an autopilot, and while it makes the game easier, and in my humble opinion takes some of the fun from it, I dont see this is half as bad as maybe 50% of the ships people have built :)

Must be due to someone mentioned gay on their post, clever spam bots
Not that clever, the thing that makes a rabbit special is a part designed specifically for the female anatomy. I cant imagine what use it would be to gay men.
