Re: Show and Tell (new ships/ ships in progress)
Hello, today i had a new idea for a ship for Oolite. now its time for texturing but to be honest i am bad at this. What kind of texture-theme could fit well to this?: http://i.imgur.com/ukaNSO9.png?1 The engine nacelles on this thing made me think, "If Duke Nukem was an Oolite combateer, he'd fly t...

Re: Oolite 1.84 performance issue on Nvidia Pascal (10xx series GTX) cards
The heavy hitters so far as slowdowns is hefty graphical eyecandy oxps. No surprise there. Curiously, they inflict more of a load on the CPU, than they do on the 1070. This is something that has me scratching my head at times. Does the CPU load drop/halve when V-sync is set to Adaptive? What maik s...

Re: Oolite 1.84 performance issue on Nvidia Pascal (10xx series GTX) cards
Played around with oxps, and this is interesting. The heavy hitters so far as slowdowns is hefty graphical eyecandy oxps. Griff's shadered shipset and Trails being the worse culprits. Curiously, they inflict more of a load on the CPU, than they do on the 1070. The 1070 happily purrs along at half sp...

Re: OXP - update station markets
You can buy cheap computers from hackers now. ...which are likely old, custom built machines that seriously outclass anything on the mainstream markets. I have a friend that I know is a part of Anonymous, and the computer at his desk is this huge, insanely powerful thing that looks like it cost mor...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
** This tale is in character, from the viewpoint of Thi'ena Roh'i. As all pilots soon learn, pirates can be found everywhere, even in politically safe, rich, and well defended corporate state systems where many would expect a gentle and uneventful cruise. All well and fine to believe that, but to le...

Yeah, ERock! Quite a skilled axman; I rather enjoy his "meets metal" series.
This guy is Piotrek Gruszka, aka Gru, a guitarist in Poland. Also exceptionally talented.

Classic rock, 70's, 80's and 90's. Mostly 80's hair metal. Some "space music", that strange spacy eletronica. And lately, getting big on Neoclassical and Symphonic metal. You can't believe how brutally kickass Bach can be till you've heard Bach played metal style! And just for fun, a dinosaur hair b...

Re: Split: Benchmark
There was a 20% load on a 3rd core, but I suspect that was some windows housekeeping process in action and not related to the game. Process Explorer would tell you exactly which process was using which core etc. It was prob'ly HWInfo creating a load, while it kept a running tally of the system load...

Re: 1.82 just not as fun?
Remember the bods that do the amazing job of coding this game for us would just sit twiddling their collective thumbs to a nub if we happy players didn't winge about sumthin not being quite right. Good grief, they might even have to spend time with their families!  Good one! They're ...

Re: Oolite 1.84 performance issue on Nvidia Pascal (10xx series GTX) cards
I cleared out all my oxps, set the geforce overrides to defaults, except for triple buffer on and v-sync set to fast. Then ran the benchmark test again. Now we're bbqing trumbles with napalm! In space, 300 to 400+ FPS depending on where I point the ship. Not to be bragging, or anything. That c...

Gotta love big fans. Run quieter and push far more air than small fans. <nods> Three 140mm case fans (speed adjustable), and a 140mm CPU fan, in my machine. 2x 120, front panel, intake 1x 120, side panel, intake 1x 120, top rear panel, exhaust 1x 140, top panel, exhaust 1x 140, CPU 1x 80, DDRAM slo...

Re: In Service to the Margravine
Welding machines have huge capacitors, the size of soda cans. They're made with a lot of tolerance of course and rarely blow. But when they do.... it's like someone tossed a pipe bomb into the machine and let it off.
