Re: Screenshots

I was doing a test run of a new HUD / kinda just messing around in G3 on my main save. It'd been a while since I had played normally. While flying a passenger contract, I ran in to these blokes: https://i.imgur.com/nweoBoB.png I haven't bothered to count, but seems like that's a whole lot of ships.....

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?

Even closing the distance with a group of pirates usually reduces my shields to zero, then I lose my cargo and start taking damage. I forgot to mention, fuel injectors are the key here. They allow you to close that distance really quickly, and, oddly enough, close quarters fighting is often a more ...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?

Welcome aboard, Commander! Combat in Oolite is no walk in the park, even for experienced commanders. The enemies hit hard, are capable pilots and, like you mentioned, tend to spawn in big groups. Some things I have found helpful are: • Equipment. The Advanced Targeting System will help you see where...

Re: Screenshots

While testing a new HUD, I noticed that you can get quite close to the planet if you try hard enough... https://i.imgur.com/YmqF6nx.png The picture isn't very clear, but the laser's end is where it intersects the planet, to give a sense of distance. I got a bit closer than that, even, but didn't get...

With normal maps, the ones found in Griff's packages.
Thank you! All the different maps really blend together smoothly for a great look.

Wow, that really adds a lot of depth to the detail! Are those with or without normal-maps?

Re: (Release) Ship Configuration

I have a couple of rather minor but interesting bug reports. All are on a Mac running the latest versions of Oolite and Ship Configuration. First of all, the game crashes when the last heat sink is jettisoned. All other heat sink deployment works as expected, but when the final one is ejected, manua...

Re: Most-Flown Ships

Agreed - the Adder's one of my favorites as well. There's something to be said for its simplicity and maneuverability: it really forces you to think about what you need. And how thin a line separates you from death.

Most-Flown Ships

Nothing will ever beat the Cobra Mk. III in popularity or utility. There are, however, many other great ships out there, and each fits a different preference or playstyle.
So, other than the Cobra III, what ship do you fly the most? Why do you enjoy it?

Re: JB WIP thread: several ships

@jackiebean

Sorry there’s been so much exhausting / frustrating chaos. I’d be happy to review the ships, do the conversions, and put the ships in to the game if you can send me the .blend or .obj files.

Re: JB WIP thread: several ships

However i am still not really clear on how to get them into the game working. Since i am unable to run the game (no gfx card) it's not something i can experiment with. perhaps i can release a mod pack that focuses on some of the drops from ships. like engines or weapons. What segments of getting th...

Re: JB WIP thread: several ships

I just recently got reliable internet again. It's been a frustrating two years of craziness and when i finally updated linux i found out that blender nerfed support for OGL 3 in favor of OGL 4 so blender just stopped working! So until i figure out a work around, it will be some time until i can get...
