Has anyone ever effectively used the tactic of ejecting cargo or other items while traveling towards a target at high speed, then turning away, flinging the ejected item at the target?

The "map" option in the BBS doesn't seem to work in version 1.84 (at least for me) -- it's supposed to display the galactic/local chart, right? it seems to just display a blank mission screen with the name/location/etc of the hit listed at the bottom.

What about a tree-menu type system, like they use for chats in a lot of FPS games? Z, X, C, and V are free keys. (which could allow for the possibility for allegiance change, if the map could be made dynamic). I made up plans for a sort of idea/disease/gene/etc simulator in Oolite in my thread here: http://aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18271#p250570 Maube that could help simulate an "alleigance" system.

How could one store a set amount of data for each system, and read/write as well as store that data for later use? For example, I want to save the amount of entities in each system for later reference. Would I have to store the data in the system description space? Could I keep this data in a script...

All you need is a reference to the ship that is sending the comms (what I've called 'NPCShip' in that sample), and the message to send.
