Re: Stormbrewer Strigine
You are welcome, Fact is all of the code is slightly modified from work done by others, Jens Ayton, Griff, and Staer9, specifically, so I could not have licensed it differently even if I wanted to. All I did was the model and the artwork. Open source software is awesome and I am thankful to be part ...

Re: Stormbrewer Strigine
Very nice. Nite Owl said: The Shader Ships that have been studied always use a texture that uses an Opacity of less than 100% giving them a more diffuse look. What you are seeing is the effect of a greyscale image saved to the alpha channel being combined with the base texture. This is done to save ...

Re: Landing On Planets
Have you tried planetfall? Its in the Expansion manager. Just descend towards the planet surface slowly after you've installed your planetary landing equipment.hickoryC wrote: Here's a idea. If there was an area designated on a planet as a landing zone

I wonder if a p.list error is the culprit, don't macs have issues with missing characters like ; in the property list?Alucard wrote:BTW I'm using OSX Sierra 10.12.6 iMac

Re: Anti malware program
Can anyone suggest me a good antivirus program please? Linux. I don't run any anti-virus, I never scan anything I've downloaded from the web for viruses, I do run an ad blocker because ads are annoying but I really don't worry about that stuff. I have run linux mint this way for about five years no...

Re: Decals and Nose art.
The thing that does not work with this method, are mission screens that show player ship as well as the spinning ship on status screen. In theory by jumping tricky hoops, one might be able to catch mission screens that show player ship and manipulate that, but I have no idea how to script the spinn...

Re: Decals and Nose art.
Griff's normalmapped ships use a custom shader to add and position decals. Aforementioned oxps also require specific models to work. Seems like it might be possible to do this with ships that already have decal positions defined. Could setShaders be used to change the decal on the player's ship? Th...

Re: [Split] Distro vs oolite.org binaries
herodotus thanks for the thoughtful reples, Bottom line: this *&^? is hard That's certainly true and I have a small understanding of how complex the situation is. One of my more popular oxps has features based on code that broke the market system for all oxps created before the code change, most oxp...

Re: PNG warnings
Also I don't really like installing software outside of the package manager unless absolutely necessary because it's a slippery slope to dependency hell. I found this to be much to limiting for my taste. I've been trying to compile my own software if I can, but if I can't I try to find a tar downlo...

Re: [Solved] Please help, No sound! Tried just about everything on the Board.
This is most probably why you can execute oolite without the wrapper. But I can't anymore with any pre-compiled version, only with my own compiled version. Check this out. storm@knucklehead ~ $ locate libgnustep-base.so /home/storm/GNUstep/Applications/Oolite/oolite-deps/lib/libgnustep-base.so.1.20...

Re: [Solved] Please help, No sound! Tried just about everything on the Board.
For what it's worth, when you execute oolite, you actually run a script which it executes the Oolite/oolite.app/oolite-wrapper script which it actually executes the Oolite/oolite.app/oolite binary. The Oolite/oolite.app/oolite-wrapper script instructs the O/S to first look into Oolite/oolite-deps/l...

Re: [Solved] Please help, No sound! Tried just about everything on the Board.
Setting up a script to archive then delete '.alsoftrc' everytime Oolite runs, then upon exit extract it again for other software to use might be a good workaround. I am glad you got it working, I've been running the Trunk version of Oolite on mint systems for years and haven't ever really had any i...
