Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Thats 4, one more to go! Whilst I said i dont believe table top games to count as stories,I could accept something from the black library (I havent read any myself), or there are any number of Japanese scifi stories I can think of, for example one about a laughing man. Or according to a little googl...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Very good!

There is also (a little hint) a well known scifi series about tanks which shares a name with a common household tool.

OK, let's go for the low-hanging fruit - Keith Laumer's Bolo novels and stories. Bolo: Annals of the Dinochrome Brigade (1976) and later books.
and excellent they are too.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Sorry for the delay, wanted to make sure I have a question that I can confidently answer myself (just in case!). Though I do have several examples myself Im really hoping to learn of some good books to read or other media to consume. As I saw the film The Beast recently, Im interested to know of 5 S...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

I was thinking of Quantum Leap but he doesnt actually meet himself rather he (Sam) jumps into an older version of himself.

And of course there are a few Red Dwarf episodes with time travel and the crew meeting themselves, for example Ouroboros.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

So lets turn this around and have 3 (because I dont think I know 5 myself though Im sure there are) stories where the lead character or narrator is not biological. So we arent looking for Lord of the Rings because although its notionally about the Ring, the Ring isnt the main character, and we arent...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

I realise that I know of a lot of talking starships but Im unsure if they are living or not. I think Lexx was a living ship. I cant help thinking that living spaceships will be much more common on TV than in books, because talking computers make better tv than guys hunched over a screen. Whereas if ...

Re: Fuel Scooping

So it was canonical Elite Universe, where taking fuel canister was normal, large ships had more fuel consumption (as of large Engines), size of Engine and mass of ship allowed to have different Range and to carry different amount of Fuel for making more jumps in raw (and trade Range/Speed for Cargo...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

No, though max headroom was indeed a kind of tvstation.

The station I was thinking of has been described as one of the 40 oddest movie aliens

Re: On Orbits & Sun Distance

What is the canonical reason for having a witchpoint at all? As a trader in the ooniverse I would of course want the system entry point as close to the station as possible, so I dont waste time and more importantly risk my life cruising around in deepish space for no reason. Obviously however parkin...
